This training is an introductory to mid-level training for staff responsible for conducting environmental reviews under 24 CFR Part 58, Environmental Review Procedures for Entities Assuming HUD Environmental Responsibilities. This 3-day training will cover the basics of the environmental process including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), levels of review, public notice requirements, recommended forms, and documentation/compliance requirements for all environmental laws and authorities in 24 CFR Parts 58.5 and 58.6. The training will also provide an overview of the HUD Environmental Review Online System (HEROS).

Who Should Attend

The course is designed to train staff responsible for conducting environmental reviews under HUD’s 24 CFR Part 58 regulations including local governments, Public Housing Authorities, environmental consultants, etc. This course is introductory to mid-level in nature, and is designed for people who have had some experience or are new to HUD’s environmental review process. It is not recommended for personnel that do not or will not actively participate in the environmental review process. We also strongly recommend staff complete the Web-Based Instructional System for Environmental Review (WISER) modules on the HUD Exchange before attending the training as this will enhance their learning experience.

General Information/Logistics

There are several parking lots in the area however please allow ample time to arrive due to heavy traffic. Also, make sure you have a photo I.D. as one will be required to enter into the building. There will also be a test administered on the last day of the training and participants must participate in all 3 days of the training and receive a 70% or higher on the test in order to receive a Training Certificate.
