HUD's Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs (SNAPS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Division, and the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) hosted a webinar to discuss strategies for re-housing individuals and families experiencing homelessness sheltering in non-congregate shelter (NCS) as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic into safe, stable permanent housing.

Participants heard from the State of Connecticut and Indianapolis, IN about their respective efforts for re-housing individuals and families experiencing homelessness sheltering in NCS into permanent housing. There was also an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

Training Objectives

Participants learned:

  • What COVID-specific NCS is and how to request FEMA reimbursement for NCS costs
  • Why it is so important to have a strategy to re-house individuals and families experiencing homelessness sheltering in NCS in safe, stable permanent housing
  • Strategies and resources that can be used to re-house individuals sheltering in NCS, including financial and community partners to help implement these strategies
