This training discussed the use of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for HUD-assisted projects in relation to the HUD environmental review and presented a case study of a Phase I ESA that was performed for a HUD project.

Training Objectives

Participants were able to:

  • Describe the various reasons for performing a Phase I ESA on HUD-assisted properties
  • Outline the key components of a Phase I ESA
  • Interpret the Phase I ESA results in the context of HUD environmental review regulations at 24 CFR 58.5(i)

Who Should Attend?

This training was intended for environmental staff of HUD grantees and others who may work on environmental reviews of HUD-assisted projects.
