How PHAs Can Assist People Experiencing Homelessness Webinar
October 05, 2021 | 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
Online
The Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) sponsored a webinar which introduced the How PHAs Can Assist People Experiencing Homelessness guidebook that outlines strategies and approaches for how Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) can play an important role in reducing homelessness in their communities through their Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and Public Housing programs. These two programs can help people leave homelessness and gain long-term housing stability.
The webinar presented best practices, including establishing partnerships with the local Continuum of Care (CoC), utilizing waiting list preferences, using the CoC's Coordinated Entry (CE) systems, and adapting the application and lease up process. PHAs that have had success in these areas shared examples of what worked well in their communities.
