Housing Counseling Webinar: Disaster Preparedness and Recovery for Agencies

Housing counseling agencies (HCAs) play a meaningful role in disaster preparedness and recovery. This webinar provided HCAs with concrete tools and advice for ensuring they are prepared for operations following disasters (e.g., storms, wildfires, floods, etc.).

Along with organizational preparedness, this session provided an overview of how HCAs can help their clients prepare for and recover from disasters.

The Office of Housing Counseling’s (OHC) Disaster Response and Recovery Toolkit was reviewed, along with other disaster-focused resources from the HUD Exchange.

Training Objectives

Participants learned about:

  • How to plan for continuity of operations and immediate response to disasters and emergencies
  • The role of community partnerships in preparing for and recovering from disaster
  • Resources to support client preparedness and recovery
  • Disaster-focused resources available on the HUD Exchange, including the Housing Counseling Disaster Recovery Toolkit
