Housing Counseling 2021 Conference: Wrap Up Q&A with OHC Directors and Closing

In this final session of the 2021 Office of Housing Counseling (OHC) Community Conference HUD hosted a second conversation with the Directors of OHC's three offices: Policy and Grant Administration, Outreach and Capacity Building, and Oversight and Accountability to get all of your questions answered. The Directors responded to questions gathered from Whova and questions received throughout the session. This discussion was followed by closing remarks, a summary of the topics and lessons learned from this conference, and how OHC plans to continue exploring these themes in the coming fiscal year.

  • Shawna LaRue Moraille, Director, ICF, TA Provider: Shawna LaRue Moraille is a Director of Community Development at ICF. Shawna has extensive professional experience in HUD's Community Planning and Development (CPD) programs, including the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

Speakers:

  • David Berenbaum, Deputy Assistant Secretary, HUD's Office of Housing Counseling: David Berenbaum serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing Counseling at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. As a member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Berenbaum collaborates with HUD's leadership, professional staff, and partners to provide the high impact services to ensure that every American has a place to call home and the ability to achieve their financial dreams. David brings leadership and program experience to the Office of Housing Counseling and to the issues of fair, affordable & sustainable housing and related public and private sector housing counseling initiatives.
  • Brian Siebenlist, Director, Office of Policy and Grant Administration, HUD's Office of Housing Counseling: Brian Siebenlist is the Director of the Office of Policy and Grant Administration in HUD's Office of Housing Counseling.
  • Jerrold H. Mayer, Director, Office of Outreach and Capacity Building, HUD's Office of Housing Counseling: Jerrold H. Mayer is currently the Director of the Office of Outreach and Capacity Building in HUD's Office of Housing Counseling. The Mission of the Office of Outreach and Capacity Building is to train and certify housing counselors and increase public awareness of HUD's housing counseling programs to enable all families to access safe, healthy, and affordable housing. Jerry has worked for HUD in FHA Insured mortgage, housing counseling, and nonprofit programs.
  • Kisha Wright, Director, Office of Oversight and Accountability, HUD's Office of Housing Counseling: Kisha Wright is the Director for HUD's Office of Oversight and Accountability within the Office of Housing Counseling.
  • Phyllis Ford, Deputy Director, Office of Oversight and Accountability, HUD's Office of Housing Counseling: Phyllis H. Ford is the Deputy Director of Oversight and Accountability in HUD's Office of Housing Counseling. Phyllis has worked for HUD supporting rehabilitation programs, managing housing counseling agencies, providing compliance monitoring, technical assistance, and training.

Karen has experience in the areas of mortgage banking, loan originations, and homebuyer education and housing counseling.
