2021 ConnectHomeUSA - Resources for Overcoming the Summer Slide
June 29, 2021 | 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EDT
Online
Engaging children in continued learning over the summer can be tricky. This ConnectHomeUSA webinar provided key resources to help children stay on track in the summer.
In this webinar, representatives from the U.S Department of Education (ED) and Common Sense Media highlighted key resources that Public Housing Authority (PHA) staff can share with families. ED shared resources to support students in building reading and math skills at home with helpful activities for children of all ages. Common Sense Media highlighted two free platforms, Wide Open School and Tech Balance, which include some of the best online and offline learning activities to help parents in your community keep kids learning, engaged, and entertained all summer long. Additionally, they unveiled a new initiative in August 2021 to help with learning during the summer and beyond.
This webinar is part of a webinar series that aims to help ConnectHomeUSA participating communities achieve their goals in connecting households to broadband and assisting communities in their digital inclusion and digital literacy efforts. View all webinars in the ConnectHomeUSA Webinar Series.
