2021 ConnectHomeUSA - Digital Educational Resources to Support ConnectHomeUSA Youth Achievement
November 16, 2021 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST
This webinar highlighted two nonprofits that provide free educational resources for children and their families: Common Sense Media and Get Schooled.
Common Sense Media discussed their new Early Childhood Toolkit "Managing Media: Young Kids and Screens Workshops for Families with Kids Age 0-8." The toolkit includes a series of enriching workshops for parents and caregivers on topics related to their children's media use. The workshop activities are grounded in Common Sense's in-depth analysis of the relationships between children's use of high-quality media content and their screen time, and the development of executive functioning skills.
Get Schooled is America's only free, all digital, college and first jobs counselor that uses technology to help young people get to college, find first jobs, and succeed in both. During the webinar, Get Schooled introduced their available resources (such as Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) help and college essay reviews), discussed scholarship opportunities, and outlined their partnership model.
