2020 ConnectHomeUSA - Planning Your Convening: Tips for Implementation and Stakeholder Follow-Up
December 15, 2020 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST
Are you a new ConnectHomeUSA community? Are you a more experienced community? If the answer is "yes" this ConnectHomeUSA webinar on convenings is for you!
A convening is required for each new ConnectHomeUSA cohort. However, holding an annual convening has proven to be a valuable practice for experienced communities too.
For new communities, convening local partners as well as national stakeholders is a critical first step to successfully developing your action plan and narrowing the digital divide in your community. The convening is an opportunity to shine a light on the digital divide in communities, engage existing partners, and bring new partners together to tackle the digital divide and create a plan for closing it. It can also be an important first step to creating a local coalition that is dedicated to the work of digital inclusion.
For experienced communities, holding an annual convening is an opportunity to share success, thank partners, develop new initiatives, and strengthen your coalition.
This webinar featured experienced staff from three ConnectHomeUSA communities:
- Stephanie Spampanato, Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura
- Yilla Smith, Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority
- Jaclyn Merrills, Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority
The ConnectHomeUSA team also provided an overview of several virtual convening platforms to consider.
Participants learned about:
- Concepts to help meet ConnectHomeUSA program goals
- ConnectHomeUSA community best practices
Who Should Attend?
This webinar was intended for Public Housing Authority (PHA) staff and community members responsible for ConnectHomeUSA program implementation. Community members from non-ConnectHomeUSA communities interested in bridging the digital divide for PHA or other HUD-assisted housing programs were welcome to attend.
