October 24 - November 14, 2018

HUD’s Office of Affordable Housing Programs (OAHP) again offered the virtual delivery of the Building HOME training series. Each series included 4 weekly 2-hour sessions on Wednesdays from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Eastern time followed with a 1-hour Office Hour session on Thursday to review homework and answer questions related to that week’s materials. This course was a prerequisite for all other HOME topical courses. The virtual delivery of Building HOME provided an overview of the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), including the latest requirements codified in the HOME Final Rule. Participants became familiar with all program activities, including homeowner and homebuyer, rental housing, tenant-based rental assistance, and Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) activities. Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) was presented during the first half of the final Office Hour for each series to allow Session 4 to focus on Rental Housing.

Note: This was a 4-week webinar series presentation of the Building HOME training. Sessions took place via webinar technology on the dates listed. Office Hour sessions were from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern the day following the Webinar; for example Office Hours was held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern on April 26, 2018 following the April 25, 2018 webinar.

Participants were expected to attend all 4 sessions in the series. Sessions were recorded and posted to allow registered participants who may have had a scheduling conflict during a webinar session the opportunity to makeup the session. Participants should have registered for completion of the series to qualify as the pre-requisite for future HOME certification.

Although some Participating Jurisdiction (PJ) staff may have participated in a group setting, each participant needed to register individually for completion of the series and to satisfy the requirement of Building HOME as a prerequisite for all HOME topical courses.

All series covered the same content.

Who Should Attend?
