2018-2019 ConnectHomeUSA - Using Data for ConnectHomeUSA

One of the primary goals of the ConnectHomeUSA (CHUSA) team is to share information and resources to help CHUSA communities successfully pursue funding opportunities. Access to good data is an essential component to any funding application.
Every year, the U.S. Census Bureau contacts over 3.5 million households across the country to participate in the American Community Survey (ACS), a premier source of information about America’s changing population, housing and workforce. The ACS began collecting data about computer use and Internet access in 2013 and provides yearly estimates of 65,000 people or more.
This CHUSA webinar features:
- Emy Tseng, Senior Broadband Program Specialist with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), teaching participants how to use ACS data to better understand how people in your community are using computers and the Internet
- Tyson Weister, Program Analyst for U.S. Census Bureau, demonstrating data.census.gov, a new site that allows the public to find popular facts (population, income, etc.) and that features frequently requested data about communities
Participants will :
- Understand concepts to help meet ConnectHomeUSA program goals
- Learn ConnectHomeUSA community best practices
Who Should Attend?
This webinar is intended for Public Housing Authority (PHA) staff and community members responsible for ConnectHomeUSA program implementation should attend. Community members from non-ConnectHomeUSA communities interested in bridging the digital divide for PHA or other HUD-assisted housing programs are welcome to attend.
