2017-2018 ConnectHome - Resident Engagement - Return on Investment
November 27, 2018 | 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST
This month’s ConnectHome webinar featured speakers from two ConnectHome communities that have engaged residents in digital literacy and access efforts.
Chloe Quiroga of the Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) explained how LMHA and the Louisville Metro Government have run a computer refurbishing program to engage Public Housing Authority (PHA) residents, young people, and the broader community to improve digital access. Local students refurbish computers and then donate the machines to LMHA familes, who are trained on how to use the Internet effectively. Approximately 300 residents have received a device through this program.
Alicia Springs and Zona Pacheco of the City of Phoenix Housing Department shared how their Maker Space and ConnectHome programming encourage residents to engage in STEM learning activities. The unique approach of the Maker Space engages children and families in a way that is accessible to all ages.
