This page provides training on using the Capital Needs Assessment electronic tool (CNA e-Tool) which is being developed by HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing. The CNA e-Tool provides an automated process for preparation, review, submission, approval and periodic updating of capital needs assessments. The CNA e-Tool is suitable for use by any multifamily housing program.

This module provides an introduction to the Capital Needs Assessment e-Tool suite. By completing this module, you will prepare yourself for more in-depth training on the suite and also gain a solid understanding of why the suite was developed.

The CNA e-Tool classifies repairs as "immediate" (critical repairs and non-critical repairs, typically occurring in year 1 of the Estimate Period) or "future" (taking place later in the Estimate Period). This module covers issues that typically arise when estimating future repairs using the CNA e-Tool.
