There are currently two versions of the Assessment of Fair Housing Tool for Local Governments (LG2015 and LG2017). The version of the Assessment Tool that a program participant must use is based on the due date of their Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH).
Under the AFFH rule, program participants are afforded at least 9 months with the Assessment Tool designed for their use. This means that program participants with a due date of October 13, 2017 or earlier can use the LG2015 version of the Assessment Tool. Program participants with a due date of October 14, 2017 or later must use the LG2017 version of the Assessment Tool.
For local governments and collaborating program participants, refer to the chart below to determine which version of the Assessment Tool to use based on your AFH due date. For joint or regional AFHs, please note that the AFH due date is the lead entity’s due date.
|AFH Due Date||Template Version||Year Published|
|*Before Oct. 13, 2017||AFH Tool for Local Governments (LG2015) (Word | PDF)||2015|
|On or after Oct. 14, 2017||AFH Tool for Local Governments (LG2017) (Word | PDF)||2017|
Program participants may wish to begin their AFH using the documents in the table above, but must submit their AFH through the AFFH User Interface (UI). When a program participant creates a new assessment in the UI, the version of the Assessment Tool automatically generated will be based on their AFH due date.
Program participants that choose to begin their AFH outside of the UI should also be aware that there are multiple versions of data in the AFFH Data and Mapping Tool (AFFH-T). The AFFH-T defaults to the most recent version of data, but program participants may be entitled to use an older version depending on their AFH due date. The UI will contain the correct version of data based on your due date. For additional information on how to change the data version in the AFFH-T, please refer to the AFFH-T User Guide.
*For a program participant that believes that it should use a different version of the Assessment Tool and/or data than the version presented upon entering the UI, or if a program participant began its AFH using a different version of the Assessment Tool and/or data, please contact the local FHEO field office for technical assistance.
