This document contains the total allocation under the Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009 (Pub. L. 110-329, approved September 30, 2008). The law appropriated $6.5 billion in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for necessary expenses related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, and restoration of infrastructure, housing, and economic revitalization in areas affected by hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters occurring during 2008. $377,139,920 was rescinded; $6,500,000 was set-aside for HUD administrative costs; $2,145,000,000 was allocated by HUD in a Federal Register notice published 2/13/09 (74 FR 7244); and the remaining $3,971,360,080 was allocated by HUD in a Federal Register notice published 8/14/09 (74 FR 41146). In addition to allocating funds directly to state grantees, the second notice set-aside $311,602,923 for the Disaster Recovery Enhancement Fund (DREF). Grantees funding certain types of activities with funds already allocated could qualify for an additional allocation (labeled "Third Allocation" in the above chart) under DREF.
