This video provides an overview of designating and operating a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) under the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program. In order to accomplish the goals outlined in the federal strategic plan to end homelessness, communities need good data and the ability to hold grantees accountable to certain performance standards. Towards this end, the CoC Program interim rule places responsibility of HMIS squarely within the purview of the continuum. The video discusses various approaches to designating and operating an HMIS, and the purpose behind the HMIS requirements in the CoC Program interim rule.
