This document contains worksheets that include State and Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) data on the number of persons living with a diagnosis of HIV infection, as of December 2008. Data were provided to the HUD (HUD) by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The data presented here are similar to those presented in the 2009 HIV Surveillance Report, published by CDC in February of 2011. However, tables provided in this workbook represent all age groups, whereas some of the data in the 2009 HIV Surveillance Report represent adults and adolescents only. Only MSAs with population greater than or equal to 500,000 were included. Total population counts are based on official post census estimates for 2009 from the U.S. Census Bureau. The CDC's 2009 HIV Surveillance Report is available for review at: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/surveillance/resources/reports/2009report/index.htm. We encourage readers to review the notes in each of the following worksheets, as well as the technical notes provided in the 2009 HIV Surveillance Report for more detailed information regarding the HIV surveillance data and tabulations.
