Welcome!

Welcome to the Moving to Work (MTW) demonstration program’s training for newly designated MTW Expansion agencies!

The MTW demonstration program is giving a new set of agencies the flexibility to create solutions that meet the housing and services needs of low-income families in their local communities. There’s a lot to learn about this unique opportunity – and you’ve come to the right place!

This resource will help recently-designated MTW Expansion agencies understand the MTW Expansion’s requirements and think about strategies for making the best use of MTW flexibilities. Residents, community members, and others who want to know more about the program can learn about it here too.

Current MTW agency leaders Karen Kreutzberg (Boulder Housing Partners), Karen DuBois-Walton (Housing Authority of the City of New Haven), and Suket Dayal (San Diego Housing Commission) highlight some of the advantages of MTW.

About This Training

The MTW Expansion Training is designed to provide MTW agencies with all of the information they need to make the most of their MTW participation. The MTW Operations Notice provides official guidance for MTW Expansion agencies. This training helps MTW Expansion agencies understand the guidance by presenting information from the MTW Operations Notice in a digestible format. It also provides ideas about ways to implement those requirements, and examples to understand some of the complexities. It includes interactive elements to engage you along the way, such as video clips, interactive trainings, and knowledge checks.

Throughout the training, you will see icons like the one to the right. These icons connect the information you are learning to the official guidance of the Operations Notice. Click the link(s) under the icons to navigate to the corresponding section(s) in the online version of the Operations Notice.

To help newly-designated agencies hit the ground running, some sections of the training are available now. Others will be added at a later time.
