On December 2, 2015, HUD hosted a webinar on preparing for the 2016 Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and Point-in-Time (PIT) count. The webinar covered the 2016 Notice for HIC and PIT Data Collection for Continuum of Care (CoC) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Programs. It highlighted the new reporting requirements and data collection guidance for the 2016 HIC and PIT counts and answered audience-posed questions. The recording of the webinar, as well as the webinar slides, are now posted on the HUD Exchange training and events page.

In addition, HUD has recently posted additional tools on the Point-in-Time Count Implementation Tools page on the HUD Exchange.

  • PIT Count Survey Instruments: Subpopulation Crosswalk: This document provides a crosswalk for using HUD’s PIT count survey tools to identify and report people in the appropriate PIT count subpopulation categories.

  • PIT Count: Tips for Including People Experiencing Homelessness: This document offers suggestions for including people who are currently experiencing homelessness or have previously experienced homelessness in the PIT count.
