New Funding Opportunities for Lead Hazard Reduction and Healthy Homes Studies
HUD published two fiscal year (FY) 2022 Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) to advance knowledge of the housing-related health and safety standards and reduce lead hazards in homes.
- FY 2022 Lead and Healthy Homes Technical Studies (LHHTS) Grant Program: This grant totals $7 million and is for state, local, and tribal governments, colleges, and nonprofits and for-profits to improve knowledge of housing-related health and safety hazards, and to improve or develop new hazard assessment and control methods. Applications are due July 17, 2022.
- FY 2022 Lead Hazard Reduction (LHR) Grant Program: This grant totals $520 million and is for state and local governments to protect children and families from lead-based paint and other home health hazards, the most such funding HUD has ever made available. Applications are due August 8, 2022. View HUD’s press release for the full announcement.
Potential applicants are encouraged to apply for these FY 2022 NOFOs. Please note that 2020 and 2021 grantees are ineligible for their respective programs this year.
