HUD’s Office of Affordable Housing Programs (OAHP) hosted a webinar series on Participating Jurisdictions’ (PJs’) responsibility to monitor HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program projects. Effective monitoring is an ongoing process of planning, implementation, communication, and follow-up. Monitoring involves many people from inside and outside the PJ and requires detailed information, reports, meetings, and documentation.
This webinar series covered the HOME monitoring exhibits discussed in the CPD Monitoring Handbook. It helped PJs develop monitoring strategies for their programs and prepare them for HUD monitoring.
Training Objectives
Participants learned:
- PJs’ responsibilities for monitoring HOME programs, projects, subrecipients, partners, and contractors
- How PJs develop their own monitoring strategies as required by the HOME Final Rule
- What proper documentation is required to meet compliance requirements
- How PJs can prepare for HUD monitoring
- How to utilize the CPD Monitoring Handbook and HOME exhibits
Who Should Attend?
This series was intended for HOME PJ staff and their partners, including State recipients, subrecipients, and contractors responsible for the administration and oversight of HOME program activities and funds.
Schedule and Registration
The webinars were divided into three topic groups: general administrative, homebuyer/homeowner, and rental activities.
All participants attended the first session of the series which provided an overview of monitoring. Participants were given the option to attend the remaining sessions depending on their needs and activities undertaken within their HOME program. Each webinar covered the material in a specific HOME Monitoring Exhibit.
