From Our Federal Partners: Economic Impact Payment and IRS Free File Webinar – June 10, 2021 – 3:00 PM EDT

June 07, 2021 Print ShareThis

Since the COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed the country into recession, the U.S. government has disbursed billions of dollars in economic relief to Americans. Unfortunately, the people who need these Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) the most often have the hardest time accessing this vital resource.

People experiencing homelessness often lack a permanent address and a bank account, which makes it difficult for them to receive the payments the main ways the government sends them: through the mail and by direct deposit.

The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be hosting a webinar on June 10, 2021 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM EDT to discuss helping people experiencing homelessness claim their EIPs. During the webinar, the IRS will walk participants through the process of getting a “Recovery Rebate Credit.”

The webinar will also feature opening remarks from IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.
