CDBG Income Survey Guidebook & Toolkit Now Available
The CDBG Income Survey Toolkit provides resources and information on how to conduct a local income survey that meets HUD's guidelines for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The goal of an income survey is to help determine the percentage of low- and moderate-income (LMI) persons in the service area of a CDBG-funded activity.
In response to grantee requests seeking an easy-to-use process to help them complete income surveys, this survey toolkit was developed to walk grantees through the process so they can more quickly provide CDBG benefits to their communities. The survey toolkit was designed with input from grantees and experts and sponsored by HUD’s Office of Block Grant Assistance.
The toolkit includes a variety of tools to assist communities with conducting their surveys, including:
- The CDBG Income Survey Guidebook which provides instructions on how to undertake an income survey in accordance with HUD requirements
- Templates for survey instruments
- User guides for survey applications
- Outreach materials
Most materials are also available in Spanish.
