October 03, 2022 Print ShareThis

October 3, 2022 Update: The average Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP) expenditure for the combined cost of land acquisition and infrastructure improvements has been increased from $15,000 per SHOP unit to $25,000 per SHOP unit.

The application deadline has been extended from November 7, 2022 to January 23, 2023 to avoid a deadline during the holiday season.

The SHOP awards grant funds to eligible national and regional nonprofit organizations and consortia to purchase home sites and develop or improve the infrastructure needed to set the stage for sweat equity and volunteer-based homeownership programs for low-income persons and families. Through this Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), HUD is making $12,500,000 of FY 2022 SHOP Program grant funds available to national and regional nonprofit organizations.
