Determination

When do I determine a person’s disability status?

Determining disability status is required only when a disability is a requirement for entry into a program. If this is the case, recipients and subrecipients must document the disability status of all program participants at intake. Further, Federal statute requires that in order for a person to be considered chronically homeless, they must meet the definition of a “homeless individual with a disability” from the McKinney-Vento Act, as amended by the HEARTH Act.
