We have two “levels” of our shelter project. How do we indicate the destination for the client when they’re moving from one shelter project to the next “level” shelter?

It is important to think carefully about how you set up projects in HMIS to make sure reports will accurately reflect the work of the project. We have heard of some projects splitting up HMIS setup into a “pre-entry” project and “regular” project or having several different projects reflecting the different “phases” or “tiers” of a project, even though they are all the same project type funded by the same source. We would strongly advise you to think of other approaches to setting up these projects if at all possible so that the destination at exit is a true reflection of where the client is going at the time the client transitions to another project or housing situation.
