A

All of the race options come from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the definition for American Indians and Alaska Natives is defined as “a person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America, including Central America, and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.” For HMIS purposes, you may refer to this definition but always record answers based on the client’s self-report. You should not require additional documentation.
