Many resources are available to help you complete the AHAR:

Communities also have access to past year’s data in the HDX. If you are submitting data for a community for the first time, it can help to look at the notes report and submissions from the prior year to understand issues faced in the last data submission.

Your Liaison has a tool called the ABIC (AHAR Bed Inventory Calculator), which is used by the AHAR team to estimate the preliminary bed counts in Q1 and Q2, using AHAR guidelines applied to the HIC data submission. The ABIC is generated for each AHAR site and a CoC’s related ABICs is available upon request. Ask your Liaison directly.

Communities can also submit a question through the Ask A Question (AAQ) portal on the HUD Exchange website. Select “HDX: Homelessness Data Exchange” from the “My question is related to” dropdown list on Step 2 of the AAQ question submission process.

Lastly, communities are assigned an AHAR Liaison, who can also help answer questions and work through data quality issues.
