What happens to a housing counselor’s status with an agency participating in HUD’s Housing Counseling Program if he or she has failed to pass the housing counselor certification examination as of August 1, 2020, the Final Compliance Date?

As of August 1, 2020, the Final Compliance Date, an individual who has not passed the certification examination may work for an agency participating in HUD’s Housing Counseling Program, and assist HUD certified counselors, but may not provide housing counseling or oversee the group education sessions under HUD’s Housing Counseling Program.
