The fee charged each time an individual takes the certification examination is based on the cost of administering the examination. As per the Federal Register Notice dated May 31, 2017, the cost for online testing at the examinee’s location is $60 and at a proctoring site the cost is $100. Information about the examination, including registration, costs, and examination locations is available at www.hudhousingcounselors.com.

The fee for taking the certification examination may change in the future. If there is a change in the fee for taking the certification examination, HUD will publish a separate federal register notice prior to the change in fees.
