Once the certification exam is available, how will counselors obtain a HUD Certified Housing Counselor certificate after they have passed the examination?

Once an individual has passed the examination, and his/her employment with an agency approved to participate in HUD’s Housing Counseling Program has been verified, the individual will be able to obtain a HUD Certified Housing Counselor certificate. HUD will provide further information on the Housing Counseling: New Certification Requirements Final Rule web page on the steps a counselor must take in order to become certified and to obtain a HUD Certified Housing Counselor certificate.
