If all Responsible Organizations funded by a grant must return Program Income to the Grantee, Program Income Accounts are not needed and should not be used. All activities not assigned to a Program Income Account or RLF are listed as under a General Account. In this case, any program income received on any activity under the grant must be spent before any program (grant) funds can be spent on any other activities.

If any Responsible Organization funded under a grant is allowed to retain Program Income for use on the any of their activities funded under the grant, the grantee should create a Program Income Account for each of these organizations. See additional FAQs for more information.
